DKC3 GBA Restored

I recently learned that the GBA uses the same sound font that the SNES DKC3 uses! BlueTronic restored the sound fonts for the SNES version. But I don’t know how to do all of it. Does anyone know how to do this? Also, does anyone know how to make a msu-1 patch for an emulator to alter the music of the DKC games? Any advice would be appreciated! :parry:

It's been said that although the instrument samples for the game have been floating around, it hasn't been possible to extract the music into MIDI data since it uses some kind of weird encryption that no one has figured out, even though it's been several years. Some other people (not just BlueTronic) have been able to find the instrument sources though. There's an online spreadsheet that has them listed that I can link here if you'd like.

Thanks, Sledge! Unbreakable encryption? Consider me intrigued! Since I am quite good at cracking unbreakable codes, that might be a future project! :parry:

Check the remix gba topic for more information on the restoration. I posted it on the wrong topic! :parry:

Edit: 500 posts!

Here’s an example of the success of this process!

Okay, so I know this thread is kind of old, but I just finished playing the msu patch of DKC3 GBA restored soundtrack. I hope it's okay to link to the forum where I found out how to do it and all that stuff (no links to any roms or anything). It took me a while to figure out how to patch it and I needed (a lot of) help from my husband. If you do a ctrl+f for Sam Miller you'll find Jammin' Sam's amazing GBA soundtrack restoration.

I played though the entire thing yesterday (I was really tired and had to beat the final secret boss today because it was 2:30 and my brains were gone last night) on my SNES with my flash cart. It sounds so good and makes me actually enjoy playing through DKC3.

AAANNNYYYWWWAAAYYYY.... one weird thing that I wanted to point out while I was playing was my inability to get all of the banana birds with this hack. It could just be on my end. For the Brothers Bear trading stuff, I did the whole birthday gift exchange but never ended up with the bowling ball in my inventory so I couldn't take it to Meknos and get fired from the cannon to get the last bird. I mean, it's whatever because I've beaten the whole game dozens of times, I just wanted to share my experience.
